part 4

Not getting into the other discussions on the page with people bitching about “this isn’t the place for this discussion wahhhh people are totally making me read these posts it’s not like I can just scroll past them”

part 3

I think I blocked out Alex’s name once on accident.  Oh well.

Also removed a fairly personal story from someone who submitted their input through a friend, a couple of irrelevant remarks, as well as a comment that has been deleted since the last time I loaded the page.

From the Overheard at Tulane page.

This is from a PUBLIC Facebook group and I’ve blocked out most full names and photos except for Alex Sansone, because I don’t think he deserves that courtesy.

I have my picture and first name up as well.

  • Rape Culture: If a woman drinks alcohol and gets raped, it's partially her fault. If you don't want to get raped, you shouldn't be drinking.
  • Men at bars: Can I buy you a drink?
  • Me: No thanks.
  • Men at bars: What the fuck, why not? Come on. Come ON, let me buy you some alcohol. God, I was being nice. Why would you turn down my generous offer? I guess chivalry really is dead. What a bitch.

nothingman:

Whenever a comedian or performer says they aren’t going to say bitch or make jokes about rape after having their first daughter, I always imagine them running around shouting at people in the hospital “Dude I just figured out WOMEN ARE PEOPLE”

(TW: suicide and rape) My daughter wasn’t bullied to death, she was disappointed to death. Disappointed in people she thought she could trust, her school, and the police. She was my daughter, but she was your daughter too. For the love of God do something.
— Glen Canning, father of Rehtaeh Parsons • In a new op-ed/statement published by the Huffington Post on Thursday. Parsons died on Sunday night, following a suicide attempt which is believed to have been the result of extensive post-rape bullying. Be warned, while we definitely think more people should see the grieving father’s words, you won’t find an easy read behind the source link. source (via shortformblog)

I need feminism because 683,000 forcible rapes occur every year, which equals 56,916 per month, 1,874 per day, 78 per hour, and 1.3 per minute.

Why does this say forcible rape?

The many faces of rape.

This makes me sick to my stomach.

As disturbing as this is, I think it’s important to give these women voices.  They are survivors.

Not sure when the source for these was removed, but I’m pretty sure they’re from Project Unbreakable :)
